Bathsheba Spooner: A Revolutionary Murder Conspiracy

By Andrew Noone | Audiobook Coming Soon!

What possessed a woman from the elite of eighteenth-century New England society to conspire with American and British soldiers to murder her husband at the midpoint of the American Revolution? The story of Bathsheba Spooner has alternately fascinated and baffled residents of Worcester County for centuries. Beyond central Massachusetts, the tale is largely unknown. Many, when first hearing of the scandal, assume it to be the stuff of legend. It was, in fact, the most sensational “true crime” tragedy of the American 1700’s. The episode’s ingredients included a cold, possibly abusive husband, a handsome, directionless teenager, a pair of roughened British prisoners-of-war, and readily available cash set aflame by social and political isolation, wartime uncertainty and social upheaval.

ALSO NEW: Project Audion presents "The Crime of Bathsheba Spooner" - a tie-in Old Time Radio episode of Crime Classics also featuring Scott R. McKinley in the cast and an interview with author Andrew Noone

What Reviewers Are Saying

5-Star Review from Audible.com

Review for "Lennon, The Mobster, & The Lawyer"

“…I found it extremely interesting. And you do an absolutely AMAZING job. I feel like I’m really listening to John Lennon. I’m very interested to listen to the rest of it… for me, it’s an added enjoyment of the walks through New York City, through buildings that I’ve been in, which is very interesting. Plus, there’s some legal aspects, although I was never a litigator. However, I do know of some of the law firm names that I’ve worked against. Thanks, again!”

Jude Southerland Kessler

Author, The John Lennon Series

I also highly recommend the superb audiobook of Lennon, the Mobster, & the Lawyer, The Untold Story which is available on Audible. Scott McKinley, who does the professional voice work for this book, is amazing! His John Lennon is spot-on! McKinley keeps you so engaged that you can’t tear yourself away! I carried my phone around for days, listening to the audiobook. You will really enjoy it, trust me.

Peter Kenny

Voice Over Artist, "The Witcher" Series

"...It sounds great, a nice measured tone, the voices apparent but not intrusive and just sufficient of a hint to capture a feel of the persona... (Particularly the Lennon). Some of your Judges and friends etc, I wasn't sure it was you speaking the timbre was so different. Excellent stuff."

“…worth mentioning is the audio version of "Lennon, the Mobster & the Lawyer" narrated by Scott R. McKinley. I normally don’t listen to audio versions, but this one is highly entertaining, with McKinley's "Lennon" voice being spot-on!”

Review for "Lennon, The Mobster, & The Lawyer"

"Scott R, McKinley's narration was clear and well-paced. He didn't try to overshadow the story, but delivered it with calm respect. He has a soft American accent which will be comfortable for British listeners and his impression of John Lennon's voice and accent was spot on. He obviously worked hard getting that right and he deserves full praise for that”.

"Great look at Lennon’s creative process.
I found this book fascinating... Scott McKinley did a magnificent job narrating. Each character has a distinct voice... I actually thought I was listening to Mr. Lennon. Bravo to Mr. McKinley!"

About Me

About Me

I love doing voices.

I love the sound of a sentence carefully read, when the inflections settle in at just the right spots. I love performing in front of an audience, a class, a microphone, (even on phone calls)!

I’ve been known to throw in a dash or two of dialects for seasoning. I’ve been performing and recording books, stories, and trainings for twenty years or more. It’s been the best part of my work life. Voicework is my profession. I read record and produce audiobooks, and do voice overs for eLearning, web sites, commercials, PSAs, video games, animation.

You got a thing? Yeah; I can voice that.
